iOS Text Reply now available to Pebble smartwatch owners on T-Mobile

Last year, Pebble introduced a feature for its smartwatches that let iOS users reply to text messages from their watch. The feature was initially only available to AT&T customers, but it expanded to Verizon users earlier this year, and now it’s been enabled for T-Mobile subscribers, too.

Pebble announced today that iOS Text Reply for Pebble is now available for T-Mobile US. It’s compatible with Pebble, Pebble Steel, Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel, and Pebble Time Round watches. When enabled, you’ll be able to reply to incoming messages sent to your iOS Messages app using a custom text response or emoji, and Pebble Time-series owners can respond using a voice note, too.

It’s worth noting that Pebble’s iOS Text Reply feature works around Apple’s Messages app. As a result, replies sent from your Pebble smartwatch are sent as SMS directly through your carrier and they won’t actually appear in your iOS Messages history. That’s kind of disappointing, but it’s the concession that Pebble had to make to get iOS Text Reply working. At least the feature is finally available to Pebble-wearing iPhone owners on T-Mobile.

Also announced today is iOS Email Actions for Pebble. With this feature, Pebble 2, Pebble Time 2, Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel, and Pebble Time Round will be able to reply, archive, and delete emails on your iPhone.
