Ever since the launch of Pokémon Go, players have wanted to know when legendary monsters would appear in the game. Now as we’re celebrating the one-year anniversary of the game, that mystery has finally been solved.
On July 22nd, Pokémon Go players attending the Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago will be able to unlock the first legendary Pokémon by catching enough regular monsters. If they defeat that legendary monster, it’ll start appearing in Legendary Raid Battles for Pokémon Go players around the world.
There’s one other detail about legendary Pokémon to know before you begin preparing to catch one. While you’ll be able to use these rare monsters to fight bosses and gym battles, you can’t leave them to defend gyms.
Legendary Pokémon like Zapdos and Lugia are some of the strongest Pokémon around, so it makes sense that they’re going to be difficult to come by. If you’re planning to catch a legendary Pokémon of your own, you’d better make sure you’ve got some tough creatures to put up against it!
