The Huawei P10 Lite is a new budget-friendly stripped-back version of Huawei’s premium P10 flagship phone, freshly launched just two weeks after the P10’s unveiling. UK pricing, release date, specs and other important info for the Huawei P10 Lite can be found below.

Huawei has just announced the new P10 Lite handset, which offers some strong specs at a much lower price than the premium Huawei P10 handset. In fact, just £299 nets you the same Full HD visuals, Huawei’s latest EMUI 5.1 software and many of the best features found on the flagship mobile. That’s almost half the asking price of the P10.

Here’s all you need to know about the P10 Lite, and go check out our comparison reviews to see how this mid-range blower stacks up to Huawei’s other recent smartphones.

Huawei P10 Lite: Design and screen

While you might expect the P10 Lite to be a little smaller than the standard P10, it’s actually a 5.2-inch handset – that’s a mite bigger than the 5.1-inch P10. However, it should still prove easy enough to operate with one hand, especially given Huawei’s nifty screen-shrinking shortcuts built into the Emotion UI interface.

If you’re hoping to pick up the P10 Lite in the same vibrant green and blue finishes of the premium P10, you’ll be disappointed. The Lite model is only launching in two colours, namely Midnight Black and Platinum Gold. However, Huawei has already promised us a greater selection after time.

Like the P10, the P10 Lite also packs a fast-acting and reliable fingerprint sensor. However, the P10 Lite rehouses the scanner to the back of the phone, which should make for a more comfortable unlocking experience.

Also like the P10, the P10 Lite offers a Full HD IPS screen. This should deliver crisp visuals and accurate colour reproduction, as well as Huawei’s Eye Comfort Mode for evening viewing.

Huawei P10 Lite: OS, performance and battery

Huawei’s P10 Lite once again boasts EMUI 5.1, Huawei’s feature-packed software which sits neatly on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. Knuckle Mode is on board, which can be used to enter split-screen mode, as well as Huawei’s clever resource management tools.

And while you don’t get the super-powered Kirin 960 processor (as found in the full-priced P10), the P10 Lite offers Huawei’s new Kirin 658 processor. We’re yet to test out this chipset, but the 4GB of memory should give us smooth everyday performance and handle games with ease.

You get a 3000mAh battery complete with Huawei’s fast charging tech. This apparently gives you 43 percent charge with just 30 minutes at the plug.

Huawei P10 Lite: Cameras

As for camera tech, the P10 Lite sports a single 12-megapixel rear lens, complete with a large 1.25μm single pixel sensor. Huawei says that this delivers solid low light performance, which we’ll be sure to test out in our complete P10 Lite camera review. You can also shoot up to Full HD video.

Around the front of the P10 Lite you’ll find an 8-megapixel lens.

Huawei P10 Lite: UK price and release date

The Huawei P10 Lite will cost you £299 SIM-free here in the UK. You can pre-order the P10 Lite from today (Friday March 17) and the phone will hit UK stores on March 31.

If you want to buy the Huawei P10 Lite on contract here in the UK, you can head to Carphone Warehouse, EE or Vodafone.

At EE, the P10 Lite costs from £30.99 per month with no up-front cost. This nets you unlimited minutes and texts and 5GB of data, if you grab one before April 27. Otherwise you’ll get just 2GB of data.

We’re still waiting on contract details from Vodafone and Carphone.
