We already knew that the company behind the voice assistant Siri, who lives in your iPhone, this week will present to the world a new generation of AI voice assistant called Viv.
Late last night Dag Kittlaus and Adam Chier (creators behind the voice insistent Siri) presented its latest creation Viv, which they secretly developed over the past four years.
The goal was to create a better version of Siri, which can connected to a variety of services. During the 20-minute demonstration on stage at Disrupt NYC, Viv flawlessly handle dozens of complex queries not only in terms of understanding.
Viv is an artificial intelligence platform that enables developers to distribute their products through an intelligent, conversational interface. It’s the simplest way for the world to interact with devices, services and things everywhere.
The main difference between Siri and Viv, is that the Viv is far more open platform. One of the biggest disadvantages of Siri is that it can handle only a small number of tasks. For the vast majority of requests or queries Siri by default will do a web search.
Viv’s approach is much closer to Alexa on Amazon or Facebook Messenger bots that offer the ability to connect with vendors and suppliers from third parties so that it can execute a purchase order or reservation of goods.
The founders of Viv believe that developers and retailers will choose their product because of the power of artificial intelligence and because they are more neutral, not a product of a technological giant.
