Xiaomi today took the wraps off of two new devices, including its first laptop.
First up is the Xiaomi Redmi Pro. This is Xiaomi’s new Redmi flagship, an Android smartphone with a 5.5-inch 1920×1080 OLED display. The front of the Redmi Pro is also home to a 5-megapixel wide-angle camera above the display and a fingerprint reader below it.
Perhaps the most notable feature of the Redmi Pro is its dual camera setup. The Redmi Pro has a 13-megapixel main camera with a Sony IMX258 sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary camera with a Samsung sensor. Both cameras shoot simultaneously, with the secondary camera capturing depth information so that you can adjust the depth of field after taking the photo. Xiaomi has also included an ImagiQ dedicated depth of field image processor.
Inside of the Redmi Pro’s body, which features a brushed metal body and chamfered edges, lives a deca-core MediaTek Helio X25 processor. Also included is 3/4GB of RAM, 32/64/128GB of storage, and a dual SIM slot that also lets you use a single SIM and a microSD card. Also included is a 4050mAh battery that you charge using the Redmi Pro’s USB Type-C port.
The Redmi Pro will launch in China in gold, silver, and dark gray color options. As usual, there’s no word on a U.S. launch. Pricing for the Redmi Pro starts at 1,499 yuan ($225 USD) for the model that comes with a deca-core Helio X20 processor, 32GB of storage, and 3GB of RAM. Xiaomi will also offer a model with the deca-core Helio X25, 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM for 1,699 yuan ($255 USD), as well as a top-end Redmi Pro with the X25, 128GB of storage, and 4GB of RAM for 1,999 yuan ($300 USD).
Xiaomi today also took the wraps off of the Mi Notebook Air, its first laptop. It’ll be available in 13.3-inch and 12.5-inch sizes, both of which will offer thin, full metal bodies.
The 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air will offer a 1080p display, Intel Core i5 processor, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, an expandable SSD slot, two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, USB-C charging, and Windows 10. Pricing for this larger model will be 4,999 yuan ($749 USD).
Meanwhile, the 12.5-inch Mi Notebook Air will carry a smaller 3,499 yuan ($524 USD) price, but also a lower-end spec list. The 12.5-inch model will include a 1080p display, Intel Core M3 processor, no dedicated GPU, 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, one USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, USB-C charging, and Windows 10.
